Technician Training

Training for Technicians

At Airgreen, Italy’s top private helicopter service provider, we’ve launched the Airgreen Academy, a specialized center focused on training future Aircraft Maintenance Technicians under the licensing regulations of the European Union Aviation Agency (EASA).

With official approval from ENAC, Italy’s national aviation authority, our organization proudly delivers Maintenance Type Rating courses under the prestigious EASA Part-147 certification. This places us among the top five certified training providers in Italy, alongside industry leaders like Alitalia, AirOne, and Agusta.

Airgreen Training Center offers aspiring technicians type-specific training for various helicopter models as well as basic courses.

Basic training courses include both theoretical and practical training.

The theoretical training is structured into instructional units covering subjects such as Mathematics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Fundamentals of Electronics, Digital Techniques and Electronic Instrumentation Systems, Materials and Hardware, Maintenance Practices, Principles of Aerodynamics, Human Factors, Aviation Legislation, Aerodynamics, Structures and Aircraft Systems (piston, turbine, helicopters), Turbine Engines, and Piston Engines

The practical training component focuses on hands-on activities using standard instruments and tools commonly employed in aircraft maintenance. It includes the removal and installation of aircraft parts, as well as maintenance operations conducted in a hangar setting.

Our aircraft-specific courses are also structured in two distinct phases.

The theoretical training provides in-depth knowledge of a specific helicopter model, covering its operational principles, onboard systems and instrumentation, and powerplant configuration. The practical, on-site training familiarizes participants with the aircraft itself and introduces model-specific maintenance procedures and techniques.

CATEGORY B1 (MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN)

Category B1 Technicians are certified to issue the Certificate of Release to Service following maintenance on aircraft structures, powerplants, and mechanical and electrical systems. They may also perform limited work on avionics systems, provided functionality can be verified through straightforward testing procedures. Category B1 includes the privileges of Category A. However, upgrading from Category A to B1 requires completion of all theoretical modules again. No exemptions or shortcuts apply.

Category B1 is subdivided into four distinct subcategories:

  • Cat. B1.1 – Turbine engine airplanes
  • Cat. B1.2 – Piston engine airplanes
  • Cat. B1.3 – Turbine engine helicopters
  • Cat. B1.4 – Piston engine helicopters
CATEGORY B2 (AVIONICS TECHNICIAN)

Authorized to issue Certificates of Release to Service after:

  • Maintenance activities on avionics and electrical systems
  • Electrical and avionics maintenance actions on powerplants and mechanical systems, where functionality is verifiable through straightforward operational tests
  • Execution of minor scheduled line maintenance and defect rectification
CATEGORY C (BASE MAINTENANCE ENGINEER)

Category C Technicians are authorized to release aircraft to service after base maintenance.

SKILLED WORKER TRAINING PROGRAM

Airgreen Training Center offers a professionally recognized integrated training program combining both theoretical instruction (Basic Training Full Immersion Program, EASA Part 66 modules) and practical instruction (Skilled Worker qualification).
Skilled Workers can reduce the required practical experience needed to apply for an Aircraft Maintenance License (AML) from 5 years to just 3 years.
The learning journey is divided into:
Self-paced theoretical training covering all Part-66 modules. Students study at their own pace, complete a final exam after each module, and receive and Aviation Authority-approved Certificate of Recognition upon passing.
Practical lessons conducted in labs and on simulators: This part helps students build the real-world skills needed to earn the Skilled Worker qualification under Part-66. Upon completion, students are awarded a certificate recognized by the Italian Aviation Authority.
